FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I submit the report for proofreading?

Answer: We advise that you submit your project in its last draft format. This saves you time as you near your submission date. In giving a first draft, you will make changes along the way and introduce more mistakes.

How long does it take to proofread?

Answer: It depends on a number of things, including but not limited to, the type of work submitted (thesis or business plan), the length of the document (amount of words, pages) and the overall quality of written English (i.e. number of issues to be resolved). We put the general timeframe at a maximum 2 weeks to ensure quality service is rendered.

Who will proofread my work?

Answer: Our small team of Master’s and one PhD professional will undertake proofreading of your written material.

If my work is proofread, will I get a Distinction?

Answer: No, in order to get your best mark the content of your research work should be excellent. Once that is the case, the next step is to have your work proofread to improve your overall presentation by eliminating errors. Having your work proofread is just as important as having good content.

Will you sort out my references and citations?

Answer: By sorting out your references we will be editing your work, which is a bit different from proofreading.

We will ascertain that in text citations are in the reference list. We will also ascertain that your references and citations are in the correct format (APA, Harvard etc. as per your university’s requirements) and the same reference style is homogeneous throughout the report. You will have to inform us about the reference style used by your university.

Please note: We do not fill in incomplete references or add references for you as we do not know your sources.

Can you reduce my word count?

Answer: Not necessarily, except when we do light rewriting of work to make it more readable or easily understood. If we reduce your word count, we may cut out important content and we cannot run this risk. As a student, you are advised to stick to the prescribed word count; if you do not do this you may lose marks or rewrite completely.
